Role and Responsibilities
In a typical implementation setup, the TrackAbout System Administrator role (“System Admin”) provides access to many important features of the TrackAbout system. Access include Users, User and Mobile Roles and User Access Control, record editing including deletion, data loading as well as system setup and administration. It is important that this administrative role is granted to restricted client users have been trained in all aspects of the systems, from web application to mobile devices. System Administrator role members are typically managers, IT Administrator or company owner. System Administrator need to have been part of all levels of implementation from the kick-off meeting to the go-live, including all training. In larger client organization, Administrators are often in a “train the trainer” role and are the people escalating issues or problem to the TrackAbout Support team. TrackAbout administrator have the right to promote other users to the administrator level.
After go-line, new Administrator might be assigned internally by other administrator. Currently there are no protection in place to prevent such a user role elevation. Such elevation are needed as human resource move around and new staff gets trained and promoted to new roles.
Assignment of new TrackAbout System Administrator
At initial setup, the TrackAbout Implementation staff will assign at least one TrackAbout System Administrator. As stated earlier, these will often be managers, IT Administrator or company owner or the project managers in charge of the TrackAbout implementation project. After initial setup and after go-live, TrackAbout System Administrators are responsible for assigning TrackAbout users to the Administrator role.
Account reset, password or email change request
TrackAbout Support will never assign a password or grant system access to a person calling or requesting access to a system. For password lost or password reset requests, Support will follow the reset password procedure, sending email using the email on file for that user. The email will never be edited nor changed even if the request is made. For requests requiring an email change, support will defer to the client’s default administrator. Support can help facilitate the communication with the client’s System Admin. and the requestor.
System Administrator Training
Currently, TrackAbout does not have a formal training in place to insure that user members of the System Administrator role have sufficient knowledge to assume the role of administrator.
