Handheld Computer Software Issues

Software Issues:

TrackAbout is Missing From Handheld

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. On the TrackAbout website, navigate to the Software Download page.
  2. Download the latest version of the TAMobile installer for your handheld.
  3. Reinstall TAMobile on your handheld.

If TrackAbout does not appear on your handheld after performing the steps above, contact TrackAbout Support.

Possible Reasons

  1. The handheld is new and TrackAbout was never installed.
  2. The handheld was hard reset and TrackAbout was wiped out.


Notes

Always download the latest TAMobile installer from the website. Do not use the installer saved on your PC or network because it may be outdated.


Unable to Install Windows Mobile Device Center

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Determine which version of Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 your PC is running: 64-bit or 32-bit.
    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click the File tab.
    3. Click the Help link.
    4. The version should be listed on the right hand side of the page.
  2. If your PC is running Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 64-bit, uninstall Office 2010 and install the standard installation of Office 2010 32-bit.


If following the steps above do not resolve the issue, contact TrackAbout Support.

Notes

Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) is the software used to allow your device and cradle to communicate with your PC. In cases where the PC uses the 64 bit version of Microsoft Office Outlook 2010, WMDC will not install.
There is a known compatibility issue between these two software applications.
Microsoft has stated it will not update WMDC to be compatible with the 64 bit version of Outlook 2010. Solutions for this error as provided by Microsoft: WMDC Issues


Conduit Error: "Error Getting Update from TrackAbout"

Error Messages

  • "Error getting update from TrackAbout"
  • Popup Security Alert: "Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed?"


  1. In Internet Explorer, go to: Options->Advanced->Security
  2. Uncheck "Check for server certificate revocation"
