Some ERP systems have extra product codes to indicate an empty status. So-called "empty product codes" are an indication of whether the asset is considered full or not. Billing is usually done based on the empty code, since once it is delivered to the customer, it is switched to the empty code.

TrackAbout has the capability of tracking assets with full and empty product codes, and "flipping" a product code on the asset based on whether the asset is full or empty.

Once this feature has been enabled, using it is described here.
