TrackAbout has a Smartphone corporate App available for iOS and Android platforms. The App is intended for customers of the TrackAbout asset tracking ecosystem. You will need a TrackAbout account to use the App. Call your sales contact for more details.

Introduction

This app enables users to perform asset tracking operations.

Features

Internal Users

  • Asset Search - search for assets by tag and view asset details and history
  • Locate - set location of assets to internal branch locations
  • Delivery - basic delivery of assets
  • Add New - basic add new of assets

Follow On (FOT)

The app supports several Follow-On Tracking mobile actions:

  • Asset Search - search for assets by tag and view asset details and history
  • Move Asset - tracks customer movement of assets between their internal locations
  • Record Weight/Volume - sets an asset volume or weight depending on asset type

Requirements

To be able to use the app, you need to be a TrackAbout customer with a service contract.

Compatibility
  • Android OS version 4.0.3 or higher
  • A rear-facing camera if barcode scanning is required
  • Minimum 1GB RAM

Setup

  1. The Smartphone app needs to be enabled in your instance. Call your sales contact for more pricing and details.
  2. The Support team will enable the Smartphone in your instance.
  3. Mobile Roles Setup

Create and setup Mobile roles. Be sure to select the correct role purpose. The new role MUST select "Smartphone and Tablet"

  1. Setup Internal Users
    1. For each user requiring access, check the box TAMobile Android/iOS
    2. Also assign the TAMobile Rugged and TAMobile Desktop role and save

Configuration

Access Open the Setup Page

  • Server

For production environment, Server should beset to: www.trackabout.com For Test environment, use test.trackabout.com (only if applicable)

  • Port: 443
  • Use SSL should be On or checked

TrackAbout iOS Application

Screen capture

  • To capture screen in iOS device, hold the ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ buttons simultaneously. The snapshot will be saved in the Pictures.

TrackAbout Android Application

Screen capture

  • Screen capture exist natively but depends on the device manufactures
    • Samsung Galaxy S3: Press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time
    • CyanogenMod: Press Volume down + Power for 1 second
  • To take screenshots in Android, ‘Screenshot UX Trail’ app can be used. Install the app for free from Google Play and start the service. Clicking on the ‘Camera’ icon on the screen takes the screenshot and saves it in Applications/My files/Screen Capture folder by default.
